This thesis is entitled “Problems of Students‟ of English Education Program of FKIP at Mataram University in Translating Narrative Text”. The purpose of study is to find out of the difficulties faced by the students‟ in translating narrative text based on Ronald H. Bathgate‟s theory. The researcher conducted this study by using descriptive qualitative method. The main data of this study are results test. Furthermore, there are collected through questionnaire, interview and record as a supporting data. The research showed that based on the analyzes using the theory of Peter Newmark and Larson theory that are problems related to such as (1) lack of vocabulary (2) Cohesion lexically and grammatically (3) coherence in students‟ translating narrative text from source language into target language. Furthermore,the factor that makes students‟had difficulties in translating narrative text lack of background culture of source language.
