Abstract

The aim of this experimental research is to find out whether there is an effect of miming games in increasing students‟ vocabulary achievement or not. This experimental research was conducted at MA Tarbiyatul Muslimin Dasan Maalan Lombok Timur. The target popula- tion of this control group design research was all of the tenth graders. Sixty participants were taken as the sample from 2 classes (30 students each), Class XB as Control Group and Class XA as Experimental Group by Custer Technique Sampling. Pre-test and post-test were used to col- lect data from the participants on each meeting. There were three meet- ings; each meeting consisted of pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The t- test result was 2.71. This result was then referred to t-table to interpret its significance and confidence level. In order to be called significant, the t-test result must be higher than 2.000 and 2.660 at confidence level of 0.05 (95%) and 0.01 (99%) respectively. The t-table showed that with N = 60 and t-test = 2.71, the confidence level was higher than 99% and less than 99.8%. This means the result was positive and significant. In other words, miming games could increase students‟ vocabulary sig- nificantly.
