Abstract

In the planning and development of urban and settlement systems, the major problem often encountered is the limited availability of clean water. Lack of accurate information about potential or the availability of water contained in a region is a complex problem. There are various methods in analyzing the availability of water, one of them with methods Mock (1973). The ability of GIS to present the real world on a monitor, analyze environmental factors as well as the physical condition of the location data collection which can be done easily, then the existence of a geographic information system is often required in the field of agricultural engineering. The objectives of this study are: to analyze potential water sources in sub-watershed (Watershed) Batulanteh with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), determine the water balance (water availability and requirements) as well as determine the level of criticality of water. In general, research on the analysis phase of the Spring Water Potential in Sub-watershed Batulanteh with Geographic Information Systems conducted five phases of activity, as follows: 1). Collection of data on climate, hydrology, hydrometric from related government agencies that include the data of rainfall, topography, soil type, sedimentation, river flow and so on, 2). Data collection parameters for the evaluation of potential water sources that include the 3 aspects: natural, social and economic aspects and technical aspects, 3). Data collection is the availability of water (the amount of springs) that exist in the sub-watershed and coordinate Batulanteh, 4). Analysis of potential water sources with GIS using data collected in Activity 1 and 2 are spatially with geographic information systems, 5). Geographic information system programming from the activities of 1,2,3 and 4 are easy for users to obtain information for the development of potential water sources in sub watershed Batulanteh in the form of software. From the analysis of the method of Mock the obtained discharge generated by sub-watershed Batulanteh each month so that the volume of water produced can be known. Analysis of water balance is calculated based on Water Availability Index (ASI) which is the ratio between the availability of water to the population of the criteria: a. <1000 m3 / capita / year (critical), b.1000-5000 m3/kapita/tahun (deficit), c .5.000-10.000 m3/kapita/tahun (enough) and d.> 10,000 m3/kapita/tahun (surplus). To present information in the form of maps used one of the technologies of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Keywords :
