Abstract

Abstract— This research aim to determine the effect of POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) learning model with concept mapping technique of students class X of SMAN 1 Lingsar academic year 2017/2018. Type of this research is quasi experiment with non-equivalent control group design. The population of this research is all of students class X MIA of SMAN 1 Lingsar academic year 2017/2018. The sample taken using purposive sampling technique so chosen class X MIA 1 as experiment class and class X MIA 2 as control class. Before being threated both samples were given pretest to determine their initial ability. Based on the result of the pretest homogenity test both samples had same initial ability. Their result of understanding concept test posttest were obtained mean score of experiment class was 65,19 with and mean score of control class was 53,93. This research hypothesis was tested by polled varians t-test obtained tcalculate value greater than ttabel that is 3,77 > 2,00. Concluded that using POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) model learning with concept mapping technique affected to understanding physics concept of students class X of SMAN 1 Lingsar academic year 2017/2018. The result of n-gain test on each matery of harmonic ocilation obtained on both samples increased, however the increase on experiment class was better than control class. Keywords : t
