Abstract
Background: Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD) is one of the programs implemented by the government to reduce the infant mortality rate (IMR). According to the data IDHS in 2012 IMR is still high at 32 per 1000 live births. Research conducted in 2006 showed that 22% of neonates could be saved from death by IMD. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge of pregnant women about IMD, the implementation of IMD, and the relationship between knowledge and implementation of IMD in Puskesmas Gunung Sari. Methods: This was an observational analytic study using cross-sectional methods. Sampling technique used non-random sampling in the form of consecutive sampling. The number of samples was 52 pregnant women (third trimester) who will be giving birth in Puskesmas Gunung Sari. The data was collected using a questionnaire and checklist. Collected data was analyzed with Lambda’s correlation test. Results and conclusions: The level of knowledge of third trimester pregnant women mostly categorized as good, most of the
