This thesis entitled “A Study on Error Analysis in Using English Countable and Uncountable Noun at the Second Year Students of SMP Negeri 19 Mataram In Academic year 2010”. The thesis aims to find the students’ errors in using countable and uncountable noun and why students made those errors. In this research, the researcher used descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The sample of study was second year students of SMP Negeri 19 Mataram in academic year 2010. In the research, it was found that the students’ errors in using countable and uncountable noun are related to misformation specially in determining the noun determiner and addition especially in recognizing the noun. The students made the errors in misformation because they did not have enough competence about the rules of noun determiner. Then the students made the errors because they lack knowledge about the noun category which noun was countable or uncountable.
