Abstract

The problems that are mentioned in the research are related to the type of plot used in the novel Angels and Demons. It is also about the plot structure presentation and the relationships of all events within the story related to the plot development. This thesis describes about the type of plot used, the plot structure and the relation of events within the story based on Angels and Demons novel. The data in this study are taken from the novel itself, the Angels and Demons. The data which are used are the conversations or the statements and also the actions of the main characters. The method of analysing the data used in this study is the objective approach. This approach sees the work as an autonomy (it stands alone, has its own world). It only uses any fact or information within from the work itself, without taking information from author’s biography or social/cultural backgrounds. This research finds: (1) the type of plot used is the combination plot (progressive – regressive). (2) The plot structure presented in five steps, they are exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution. (3) The relationships of all events are illustrated This thesis is entitled A Study on the Plot of Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons: An Objective Approach. on the table.
