Abstract

Distribution of code switching is found interesting to observe. This study entitled “Code Switching on Interactive Dialogues a Case Study at Global FM Lombok News Radio Station” is aimed at finding the analysis of the interaction occurred among the announcers and callers expressing the opinion about the problems occurred in West Nusa Tenggara. The radio station in this study was Global FM Lombok and the program or broadcast called ‘Lombok Terkini (Loter)’. The method used in this research is descriptive. The descriptive is functioned to analyze and describe the dialogue occurred in this program. The data of this study focused to the language code switching among the announcers and the caller in this news radio station by utilizing non-participant observation. Questioners and interview provided by the researcher to support the analysis. Having been transcribed and translated, the data are marked by identifying code switching occurred at the dialogue. In this study, the researcher found the reasons and the functions of code switching that occurred during the interactive dialogue. The reasons occurred because the caller’s habit used code switching in daily communication, code switching occurred by spontaneous of some callers. The functions of code switching is explained and confirm about the meaning of their opinions about the problems occurred in West Nusa Tenggara.
