Abstract

This study entitled “A Comparataive Analysis of the English Textbooks Used for the Second Grade of the Students of SMPN 1 Aikmel and SMPN 4 Aikmel Academic Year 2008/2009” compared both of the textbooks.The data of this thesis were taken from the textbooks entitled “Let’s Talk” by Bachtiar Bimta M and Cicik Kurniawati that published by Pakar Raya which was used by second grade students of SMPN 1 Aikmel and the other one is “Functional English” by Anwar Wahyudi, at al. published by Mefi Caraka which is used for second grade students of SMPN 4 Aikmel. In the data analysis, there are three tables which are put by the writer. Two of the tables are the materials arrangement with total of practices and exercises of the textbooks and the other one of the table is for the materials of the textbooks based on Standard of Content which relate to the KTSP curriculum. From this data, the writer found the similarities and the differences of the textbooks and the relevancy of the materials of the textbooks based on Standard of Content of the KTSP curriculum. This indicates both of the textbooks there are the similarities and the differences between two kinds of the textbooks.
