Abstract

This study examines the differences in debt policy that is proxied by Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) by managers who have shares in the managerial ownership and managers who do not have shares in the company (free agent). Tests were conducted on 119 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2017, consisting of 25 companies included in the managerial ownership category and 94 companies included in the free agent category. Determination of the sample using purposive sampling method and testing data is done using parametric statistics, namely independent sample t-test. The results of this study indicate that there is no difference in the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) by managerial ownership and free agent. The findings of this study prove that managerial ownership does not use debt that is lower than the free agent. )
