Abstract

Vocabulary is important for students to learn, because without vocabulary it is impossible to speak, write, read and listen in English. According to Ur (1996:60) it is impossible to communicate without the variety of words. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of flashcards in learning vocabulary and students perceptions before and after using flashcards. This study used experimental research to determine the effect of flashcards in learning vocabulary. Data collection was collected through interviews, tests and questionnaire. The population was eleven-grade students and two classes were taken as samples with 62 students as the sample. From the research results, there is a significant correlation between the two variables with a correlation coefficient (6.32) higher than t-table (2.00) or t-test>t-table at a significant level of 0.05 (95%), it can be concluded that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Thus, it is said that flashcards can affect students’ vocabulary at 11th grade students of MA Muallimin NW Gunung rajak 2022/2023.
