Abstract

The main problem of Solar Power Plant systems is low power efficiency. Low efficiency is caused by repetitive power conversion processes. The DC voltage produced by Solar Cells is usually converted to 220 Vac using an inverter. While electronic equipments for examples: TV, Computer, Cell Phone, sound system etc, they require DC voltage. Nowadays, many lighting lamps use DC voltage as its voltage source. It means, the AC voltage generated by the inverter must be changed again to DC voltage. The process for converting the voltage from DC to AC then converted again to DC results many losses. This paper suggests a DC electrical system for a home with low power consumption. The aim is to get higher efficiency from solar power plant system. The proposed DC voltage which is used for home installation systems is DC 12V and DC 5V. The main reason for using low voltage is to increase user safety and protection from fire hazards. Using a DC electrical system, the efficiency increases by more than 90% compared to Solar Power Plant systems that use AC voltage. In DC electrical systems, it is suggested that household appliances use low voltage. For examples, the lamps uses 12V LED lamps. Computers use Raspberry or the like with and its monitors use LCD types. Meanwhile, A television use a TV Tuner and a LCD monitor is used as its monitor. As for mobile phones, it can directly use 5V dc voltage. For other electronic equipment such as sound systems, it is necessary to modify the power supply system so that it can work with a 12 volt DC voltage source. In addition, the Solar Power Plant systems which is proposed involves matters relating to other installations such as cable sizes, the ideal battery size with regard to the solar cell power used.
