Abstract

This research aims at analysing and describing, then finding out if there is a significant correlation between students’ motivation in learning English and the results of their reading comprehension at eight grade students’ of SMPN 18 Mataram in academic year 2022/2023. The research method used is quantitative method with correlation study. 31 students’ are selected as the sample of this research from the entire 31 population. The instruments of this research were questionnaires and reading tests. The collected data were analyzed by using Person Product Moment Correlation. The results of this research indicated that the t-test value of 6.25 is higher than the t-table value of 1.695. Therefore, it can be interpreted that there is a significant correlation between students’ motivation in learning English and the results of their reading comprehension in eight grade students at SMPN18 Mataram
