Abstract
This research aimed to discover the types of tasks used in learning writing skills and to identify the perceptions of the teacher at MTs Nw Rumbuk. The research employed qualitative description to investigate the kinds of task and to describe the perceptions of the teacher which concerned the use of tasks in learning writing skills. Even more, the research analyzed the students‟ writing skills by using the tests performed to measure the students‟ scores. The data source of research dealing with the teacher and students. The findings data discovered the use of tasks which were applied by the teacher; the draw label caption, the mind mapping, and the guided writing of the tasks. The draw label caption task was frequently used in the writing. And the perceptions data had the same answers in which between teacher and students preferred the draw label captions as the task because the draw label captions were a task fun to students‟ interest in the learning process of writing skills. The result of the students‟ scores shown that the students‟ scores were only 3 (10%) students who passed a test in the first meeting. Meanwhile, 25 (75%) students passed a test in the second meeting. It meant that the task of the draw label caption was proper for the students‟ writing skills.
