Abstract

A buck converter is designed to be able to adjust the output voltage to the load needs adaptively. This is because the DC voltage required by the load varies greatly. Buck converter designed is expected to produce DC output voltage with a range of 3-20 Volts, so it can serve the needs of DC load based on the load current. The tests performed on the designed buck converter aims to find out if the buck converter can work well in accordance with the needs of charging batteries on varied loads. Buck converter testing includes battery charging testing on several types of loads, namely testing using pure battery load 3.7 Volt DC, power bank, mobile phone, and Laptop. Based on the results of testing and analysis that has been done in this study, it is concluded that the buck converter is able to serve the needs of charging batteries for various loads. The test results show that buck converter is capable of serving battery charging of pure battery 4400 mAh for 7 Hours 58 minutes, 7800 mAh power bank for 7 Hours 48 minutes, 3100 mAh mobile phone for 3 Hours 41 minutes, and for 4400 mAh laptop load within 3 Hours 57 minutes. It appears that the designed buck converter is capable of serving the charging of batteries at varying loads with the difference in battery charging time affected by the amount of mAh value of each load.
