Abstract
This research aims to determine whether the use of video with subtitle has a significant effect on student speaking skill at SMPN 5 Mataram. This research used a pre-experimental research design, the samples were taken from students’ ninth grade in SMPN 5 Mataram. The data of this research was taken from PreTest and Pos-Test of the students’ speaking ability. This research used the t-test formula with the help of SPSS in calculating the data. The results of the Pre-Test and Post-Test show that there is progressing score. The average score at Pre-Test is 53.33 and the average score at the Post-Test is 77.08. The result hypothesis testing of this research was sig (2-Tailed) was 0.000, because of sig< α (0.000 < 0.05). Based on the result above, it can be concluded that video with subtitle has a significant effect on students’ speaking skill.
