Abstract
This study is focused on analyzing the students’ grammatical error in writing recount text. The purposes of this study are; 1) to find the kinds of students’ grammatical errors in writing recount text; 2) to find the most common grammatical error; and 3) to find the factors causing students’ grammatical errors in writing recount text at the ninth Grade Student of SMPN 1 Kopang in the academic year 2022/2023. This study used Descriptive Qualitative method with written test and interview were used as the research instrument. The finding of this research shows that the total amount of grammatical errors made by the students are 570. The errors of verb tense are 499 or 87,5%, the errors of word choice/diction are 23 or 4%, the errors of word form are 8 or 1,4%, errors of conjunction and word connectors are 4 or 0,7%, and errors of pronoun are 36 or 6,3%.
