Abstract
The purpose of this study was to calculate the metabolizable energy values of sapu-sapu fish (Hypostomus plecostomus). Ten Mojosari laying ducks were randomly allocated into two types of feeds, each laying ducks was reared in individual cage (metabolic cage). The first ration consist of basal diet (30% commercial feed : 70% corn), and the second ration consist 70% basal diet and 30% sapu-sapu fish (Hypostomus plecostomus), with five ducks for each replication. Metabolic energy (ME) was determined as apparent metabolic energy (AME). The metabolizable energy (ME) values were determined using the method described by Farrell (1976) with some modification and metabilizable protein were determined using equation by Mc Donald et al. (1988) . The results showed the AME and metabolizable protein contents were 2890.52 ± 34.01 kkal/g and 64.80 ± 15.71% resfectively. It can be concluded that sapu-sapu fish (Hypostomus plecostomus) is appropriate as supplement feed of laying ducks particularly Mojosari ducks. Keywords : fish, metabolizable energy, laying duck
