Abstract

A matter of great concern is that the universal Message of the Qur’an could not be effectively communicated throughout the world through English translations. This challenging task has been treated lightly. One of the way to find the meaning of Al Qur’an is that by applying intertextuality between its verses. Intertextuality is the shaping of texts' meanings by other texts. The term intertextuality in Al Qur’an meant as internal relationship or what Muslim Scholars called as self-referential. A most relevat and fruitful aproach to understanding the text of the Quranis by means of two key concepts developed by Muslims scholars in the classical period: context and internal relationship. Internal relationships were encapsulated in the dictum: al-Quran yufassir ba’duhu ba’da (some parts of the Quran explain others)- in modern liguistic terms called as “intertextuality”-which, given the structure of the Quranic material, was argued to most correct method of understanding the Quran (Baidan,2002; Dayyab et al.,2007; Nasution,2010; Thabathaba’i,1992). Because the text of The Holy Qur’an is sacred. It is diffrent from any other texts. Intertextuality in the Qur’an can be viewed as internal relationanship (Baidan, 2002). The principle of context implies that the selection and the presentation of material in Al-Qur’an depends on the context in which it occurs. The aim of this study is to find the intertextuality in the Holy Qur’an by using comparative analysis of the translation of Surah Al-Ikhlas by two Muslim scholars, Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s and Muhammad Taqiu-Din’s translation text. Results indicated that the verses of Al-Qur’an make relationships through its verses. They also make relations with some verses from the tradition-hadist- of the Prophet and some verses fro New and Old Testament.
