Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has made various changes in every aspect of life, one of which is education. This study aims to describe Students’ perspectives about innovation in English language teaching (ELT) during the online learning. In this study, there were 53 students that were used to be sample. In collecting data, this study used two methods namely questionnaire and semi-structure interview. In questionnaire, the researcher used close and open ended questions to obtain information about students’ perceive innovation ELT for online learning which consist of twenty-nine of close questions and one of open questionnaire. In close ended questions, responded by respondets using 5 Likert-scale. In open ended, one questions used to obtain information about students perspective about ELT innovation during the online learning do not mention in closed ended questions interview was used to find further information to complete data. Then, the data were tabulated and analyzed qualitatively. Based on the findings or significant percentages, there were two major result that was found. First, obstacles (1) Unstable connection and loss of connection in the middle of online learning were the main problems. 2) faced by students in innovating is the difficulty of using Google-meet in virtual meetings which drains student quota. (3) obstacle experienced by students is that I feel that the explanation of the material is often unclear due to unstable connections.
