Abstract

This research attempts to measure the Online Learning Effect on Students' Listening Skill (A Case Study at SMPN 1 Praya). This research used an qualitative and quantitative case study research method. The population of this research be the second-grade students of SMPN 1 Praya Central Lombok in the academic year 2021–2022, which consists of 2 classes, namely A class with 32 students and B class with 32 students. So, the total population of the population in this research was 64 students. The researcher used random sampling, which was called the lottery technique, and the researcher take 2 classes, which be divided into two different groups. A class consists of 15 students as an VIII8 class , and a B class consists of 15 students as a VIII9 group. So, the total number of samples was 30 students. From the results of the post-test hypothesis research (T-Test) that has been carried out in both groups, it can be concluded that the mean value in the VIII8 class was 85.60 and the VIII9 class was 82.66, and the significance value was 0.01 and less than 0.05, which means that the data obtained was valid and teaching English listening comprehension online is said to be effective for students during this COVID-19 pandemic.
